Throop Park is a cute playground with two bridges kids can climb under and some concrete shapes to tight rope walk. There are two small structures and baby swings. It is next to a school so there are plenty of kids in the afternoon. There are trees for shade and some mountain views including views of Bishop Peak, though on the school side it is a bit barren-looking.
It's nice to walk this neighborhood. Although the houses are of the ugly 1950s style, there are flowers in the gardens and lovely mountain views around every turn. Jeffrey Drive is particularly sweet, with a wide open space and views of Bishop Peak.
Afterward, have a coffee at Scout Coffee Foothill at University Square Shopping Center, a twelve minute walk away. The decor inside is lovely, enjoyed by many students, and there is also seating outside.
Throop Park is located behind the school at 261 Cuesta Dr, San Luis Obispo CA 93405. There is parking along the road. From there you can walk the neighborhood.
