Oak Park, a large neighborhood park amongst cookie-cutter houses, has an impressive play structure with tall twisty tunnel slides. It is three levels high with two huge tunnel slides coming down each side, plus two towers of cubes to climb up to the slides and three tunnels connecting the two towers at each level. There is also a toddler structure and baby swings. Plenty of benches and picnic tables and winding pathways make it a nice place to visit. The surrounding hills are cute and pretty, as are the distant views of the mountains.
Check out Ostrichland, also in Buellton, where you can go to feed ostriches and emus. It's an exciting time and will keep your kids giggling.
Head over to Solvang, a charming town with Danish architecture. You can sit out at one of the sunny cafes such as Paula's Pancakes. In Solvang is an amazing medieval playground called Sunny Fields Playground. See miniature horses just down from the playground at Quicksilver Ranch. While in Solvang, visit the Santa Ines Mission or the cool wine cellar at Sunstone Winery. There's a lot to do around here!
Oak Park is located at 401 Sycamore Dr, Buellton CA 93427.
Exit Highway 101 at Highway 246 and head west on Highway 246. After one mile, turn right on Sycamore Dr. You will soon see the playground on your left.
There are restrooms.
