Robinson Preserve is a popular place to do a three mile loop walk! The shade situation varies, so you are on some stretches of no shade at all- come early in the morning or in winter! A lovely thing about Robinson Preserve are the many wildflowers, a rare sight in Florida! It felt like we were in California!
After half a mile, you come to a multi-level tower. The top level has fantastic views of the bay and Skyway Bridge! Kids love to climb this tower, checking out the views at each level.
Continue on and the path reaches the bay, with nice views of the mudflats and mangrove shore.
You can turn back at this point to make the walk shorter (one mile there and back), or continue along the entire three-mile loop.
After, walk down 99th street to the side gate of Palma Sola Botanical Garden, which opens at 8am. The small garden has beautiful fruit trees and tropical flowers!
Also, drive three minutes south to The Nest at Robinson Preserve, an amazing playground with climbing nets!
The visitor center is in the Valentine House, a two-story blue late 19th century house at the entrance to the preserve. It has a touch tank inside, though we didn't check it out while there.
Drive half an hour to Anna Maria Island for an amazing day!
Robinson Preserve is located at 1704 99th St NW, Bradenton, FL 34209. There is plenty of free parking.
