Delaplane Preserve Park offers a pleasant crushed shell trail through lush foliage to the Saint Lucie River. It's a short walk- only 500m. You cross a swampy section where there is a bench looking out on a pond. At the end you reach a wooden dock with a lone palm and a large oak tree. The river is black.
It's always nice to be in the middle of a forest like this- invigorating for the whole family! Extend your walk by driving six minutes to Kiplinger Nature Park and walking its one-mile trail as well.
Come on cold, winter mornings when there are less mosquitoes.
Another nice walk is the River Boardwalk near Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens, but it is a longer drive away (25 minutes).
Delaplane Preserve Park is located at 536 SW Linden St, Stuart, FL 34997. There is a small parking lot.
