Tradition is a planned town with colorful buildings and manicured streets. The buildings are a bit fake-looking because of the flat window sills, almost like at a theme park. There are palm trees galore by the large town square. There is a lake that is a bit sparse of greenery. On cooler days it's nice to sit at the tables out on the lake, behind 1971 Coffee Roasters. Too bad this coffee shop has old pastries. Better pastries and delicious salads can be found at Panera Bread, which has lovely huge windows. Panera also has a nice outdoor seating area with pale green umbrellas. The views of the town are pretty from here.
On the lake is a lovely splash pad (Fountains at Tradition) with shaded tables around it. There is a town square and town hall with a tall white steeple. Around the town square are cafes such as 3Natives, which has juices and an attractive indoor eating area. Kilwins Chocolates, hidden in a corner, is a good place to get a delicious chocolate ice cream in a fresh-made waffle cone.
There are some walking paths on the lake- you can start walking at the splash pad. You walk a one-mile loop called Lake Tradition Loop. You might see birds: anhingas drying their wings, snowy egrets, ducks, blue herons. There is barely any shade, so it's best to come very early in the day. There are exercise stations along the way: parallel bars, spring up bars, monkey bars, sit ups, beam, chin up bars.
You can walk north to Aileen's Treehouse Park where you will find a fenced playground with a big kid playground, toddler playground, statue, swings, and small climbing wall. There are plenty of benches for parents and a little shade. It's nice to walk the tidy streets past all the houses, though the trees don't provide much shade.
There are shops galore in Tradition- anything you could need! It's a great place for girls and moms to come on a shopping afternoon. You can visit Target, Michael's Crafts, Five Below, Old Navy, and more. Across the freeway is a Bass Pro shop with a huge aquarium full of fish, and beautiful murals of nature scenes.
A ten minute drive south, check out Woodland Trails Park, which has a mother-and-baby swing, baby swings, regular swings, a tree log tunnel, mushroom tables and mushroom chairs, and a playground, all under a gigantic yellow shade canopy. The canopy is wonderful on hot days. There is also an abundance of workout equipment, all shaded and popular with young guys.
Tradition town is a planned development located along Highway 95. The address for the splash pad which is across from the town square is 10597 SW Meeting St, Port St. Lucie, FL 34987.
