The Vero Beach Museum of Art is located in a park on the intracoastal waterway. It's a lovely place to visit when you want to get out of the heat. Here in the AC, you can enjoy whichever new first-rate special exhibit the museum is hosting. The museum interior is modern and attractive, and the staff are very friendly. The permanent exhibits are somewhat limited though there are two beautiful nature paintings by George Buckner who was one of the Florida Highwaymen. And there's an unusual and wonderful sculpture by Colombian artist Frederico Uribe called "Oriente-Poniente" at the end of the main hall.

The sculpture garden is fun to walk around, and kids will love the Trial Scene sculpture, of animals on trial! Look at it from behind- it's very cute!
There is a gift shop though it didn't have many inexpensive choices for kids toys.
On Wednesday morning there is a story time for kids. Also, check out the kids area that has magnets, blocks, and coloring activities.
After, let your kids splash around or go for a romantic stroll to the end of the dock at Royal Palm Pointe Splash Pad, just across the intracoastal.
A fantastic place to stroll around and eat a meal is the Humiston Beach area with a beach, amazing playground, and cafes galore, many on the water.
Make sure you visit the McKee Botanical Garden, which is gorgeous!
