Sun Studio, Memphis

It is a fantastic experience to visit Sun Studio. If you're a music lover, you'll be in heaven! To visit, you must take a guided tour which lasts about an hour. Children under 5 are not permitted. During the tour you'll go upstairs to see the memorabilia and hear awesome clips from recording sessions, and then downstairs to the real studio where Elvis and others made their recordings. You will learn a lot of very interesting history about the making of the music. This tour was much better than the Graceland tour, and I highly recommend it if you're in Memphis.

We had a tour guide called Koko who clearly adores rock history. She was bubbly and full of fascinating information and really made our tour incredible.
After your tour, enjoy a chocolate shake in the soda fountain area (where you entered). This is where the musicians used to hang out during their breaks!
Tonight, experience Beale Street for some live music!

Sun Studio is located at 706 Union Ave, Memphis TN 38103, call 1 (800) 441-6249.
Open daily 10-6. Tours are on the half hour (e.g. 10:30am, 11:30am etc). Arrive half an hour early so you get a space. Come for the first tour of the day if you can.
Tour costs $12 for adults, free for kids aged 5-11. Children under 5 are not permitted.
The tour lasts for about an hour.
