Hundreds of people take advantage of the excellent running path that circles Brickell Key, a little island in a very dense part of the city. You can begin on the mainland at the north end of Brickell Ave. Here you walk Brickell Point, tracing the edge of the water. People bring their dogs to play on the huge lawn. There are palms and fantastic views of the skyscrapers including the strange Easter-island columns of the W Miami Hotel. If you continue south, you have a lovely sunny walk in the morning. Stop at Mary Brickell Park to play on the playground and check out this green delight. Then continue on past a food truck area with tons of picnic tables. You cross over the bridge to Brickell Key. Here the path becomes narrow and cars zoom by. It's still nice though, because the water is a wonderful jade green and there are trees in pots along the bridge! Once on Brickell Key you can continue your walk around the whole island, passing many happy joggers along the way! Brickell Key Park, a large lawn with a sculpture, is at the tip of the island. This island is all highrises providing shade on the path depending on the time of day. This walk is about 1.5 miles.
Nearby, check out Mary Brickell Village, an outdoor mall in a densely-populated area with many eateries.
