Surfside Beach is a quiet, almost empty beach, north of the Miami action. It is a fairly plain beach, a narrow strip of sand, with a sloped shoreline that is not very good for beach walks. The sand is a pale white-gray and the water is a pretty green color, even at dawn and dusk. Some people smoke on the beach and you will find cigarette butts, which is a shame. There is an unpaved bike path that runs beside sea grape trees just back from the beach, called Atlantic Way on google maps. Surfside town has some cafes on a main strip called Harding Ave (at 95th Street) but to get there you must drive through lots of hectic traffic with aggressive drivers.
After, check out the amazing plants, flowers, sculptures, and fountains at Bal Harbour Outdoor Mall, an eleven minute walk or four minute drive. It is probably the richest mall you will ever visit.
You can walk or bike 8.5 miles along the bike path all the way to South Pointe Pier and Park. After less than a mile, the path becomes paved and is called Miami Beach Boardwalk. As you walk along, you will pass 64th Street Beach with its purple lifeguard station shaped like a V, 53rd Street Beach, 46th Street Beach, 36th Street Beach, 21st Street Beach, 7th Street Beach, then South Pointe Pier and Park!
Surfside Beach is located at 92nd Street, Surfside FL. There is no parking at Surfside Beach, just endless condos. You can park at 87th Street Beach Park at 8701 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33154, and walk seventeen minutes north to get to Surfside Beach.
