8th Street Pier is a lovely find! Shaded blue benches under trees strung with Spanish moss await you. Come and read your book while you enjoy the soft breezes off the lake. There is a wooden pier with pretty views at sunset. There's a new restaurant called Salt Shack coming here 2023. Tame egret birds will stand by you as you enjoy the wooden boardwalk.
The S. Lake Trail goes along here, on a hill above the boardwalk, and you can bike or walk it west (five minutes walk) to West Beach Park, a little fenced playground and pier on the lake, or in the other direction, east, to Waterfront Park, a large area with white sand, many water activities, and a splash pad. There is no shade on any of the walks around here so you have to come on a cloudy/rainy day, at sunset, or early in the morning.
Walk south and you will be in the streets of downtown Clermont, with some gift shops and cafes. Energy Lab Cafe is a cute coffee shop on the hill above Salt Shack- the outside chairs are awesome here, with views of the blue water. I had a lovely meal the other day at Pepe's Cantina, which also has views of the deep blue water from its idyllic garden patio. Other places to check out are Suncreek Brewing (you can smell the hops), Teamont Boba, Erika's Tea Room and Gifts, Clermont Brewing Company, Yummis Frozen Yogurt, and Los Reyes Mexican Grill in a little house. Have some Italian ice or gelato at Corelli's Dolceria Italiana. There is a farmers market on Sunday from 9-2. Most of these are on Montrose Street. There is also a performing arts theater company called Moonlight Players in downtown Clermont. If you walk south on 8th street, from the pier, you will come to Golden Hills Coffee Company, and then Center Lake, a small lake with a path around it.
There is also a pier on the lake at the end of 5th Street, and at the end of 2nd Street, at Waterfront Park, a lively area with white sand and lots of water activities. It is a ten minute non-shady walk from 8th Street Pier.
8th Street Pier is located at 800 West Osceola St, Clermont FL. There is free parking along the road.
