Boynton Beach has a few nice areas to hang out. On the intracoastal you can choose from two restaurants. Banana Boat has modern decor and a pretty location on the water. There isn't always a breeze since the waterway is not wide here, but they have fans to cool you. Their food is average. Across the canal is Two Georges Waterfront Grille. Here your kids can feed the catfish! You can watch the boats come in from both of these restaurants.
For a hip coffee shop, check out Common Grounds, in an upscale building (One Boynton Apartments) with free parking in a structure- you will be happy about the shade on your car in the summer! They have awesome music and good drinks, plus cool decor, with a piano you can sign. You won't want to leave!
Across Woolbright Rd, check out Crumbl Cookies, with cookies that are crispy on the outside but like cookie dough on the inside, and that come in a pretty, pink box. Bond Street Ale and Coffee is across Federal Highway and has some yummy-looking pastries, but I haven't checked it out yet.
The beach in Boynton Beach is Inlet Beach, with glorious water, but a weird stormwater pipe jutting out into the air. Kids love to climb the rocks here at the inlet. Across the street is Ocean Inlet Park with a great playground with lots of shade, and an area with gazebos to watch the boats come and go from the inlet. Across the inlet is a small park, Boynton Inlet Pier, with similar lovely views of the inlet. From it you can walk under Highway A1A to a pier and beautiful beach lined with coconut trees. It's nice to drive north along Hwy A1A from there, admiring the mansions and landscaping.
For a fun children's museum nearby, check out Schoolhouse Children's Museum, which has a large castle playground next to it called Kids Kingdom.
