Less than two miles north of Lake Worth Pier is Phipps Ocean Park. This beach is secluded during the weekdays. Because sand restoration programs are not carried out at this beach like at most beaches in Palm Beach County, the shore is often rocky. It's fun for kids to dip their toes in the tiny rock pools- but beware of waves! There is a lifeguard in a large lifeguard shack, and there are restrooms and showers.

There are is a paved walking path with occasional trees for shade beside the beach, at the top of the dune. The walking path connects the two parking lots. There are also six grass shack picnic pavilions with ocean views, along the walking path. Between the two parking lots are some tennis courts, a fire station, and an adorable little red schoolhouse (kids can take school field trips here). Imagine going to school in this little schoolhouse right by the beach!
The beach is sloped which makes it kind of difficult for walking.
You can walk for miles in mostly shade in the morning, along Ocean Blvd
After your visit, have lunch just half a mile south at Palm Beach Par-3 Municipal Golf Course. They have a lovely plantation-style building right on the water with a gorgeous cafe, Al Fresco, upstairs! The restaurant is casual and you can dine on the huge balcony while looking out on the ocean!
