One Paseo Plaza, Carmel Valley area

One Paseo is a colorful, upscale plaza built in farmhouse style, in a suburban area eight minutes inland from Del Mar Beach. There is always a cool breeze off the ocean at One Paseo! Here you can sit at the outdoor seating of your favorite cafe and enjoy the vibe. Many young professionals have lunch here, and in the afternoon, families bring their kids to play on the huge fake log. In the evening, discover the best part- the fire pit surrounded by adirondack chairs and eucalyptus trees! Here you can chat with many interesting, educated people.

My favorite store is Urban Beach House, where you can always find something nice, such as jewelry, bags, clothes. There are other gift shops too- none have anything to do with intellect or bettering yourself, such as a bookstore- it all feels a bit vacuous here, like a giant selfie spot. 
Cava has bowls with lots of sour mediterannean flavor. Shake Shack usually has delicious burgers but this has old oil- it smells smoky inside and you feel sick after eating there. Parakeet Cafe has juicer juice, good avocado toast on delicious crispy fresh bread, and really good greens, though this location is not as cute as their other locations.  Tocaya Mexican has pretty outdoor seating but the music is house music and not conducive to eating and the tacos are crazy small. My food was burnt. Other choices are: Harland Brewing, Urbn Coal-Fired Pizza,  Tender Greens, Sweetfin Asian Fusion, Mizukiyama Sushi, Blue Bottle Coffee, The Butchery, a butcher and deli with burgers and some indoor seating, and Nick's Del Mar (expensive). 
For treats, there is Salt & Straw Ice Cream, and SusieCakes, a bakery with cupcakes, pies, lemon or berry bars, cookies, including gluten-free options.
Across the street, check out the huge public space, in-ground trampoline, cafes such as Mendocino Farms, coffee shops such as Philz Coffee (with outdoor heat lamps), Happy Lemon boba tea, strange dark public market, and sky deck bar with fire pit at Del Mar Highlands Town Center. 
Seagrove Park and Powerhouse Beach, a perfect beach, are a ten minute drive from here.
