Downtown City Park in Paso Robles has romantic Christmas Lights! Take your time strolling through this magical spot! Look up at long strands of lights hanging elegantly from tall, regal old trees. Large spheres of green and blue hang from other trees. And twinkling lights with just the right amount of sparkle are on the Paso Robles History Museum and the gazebo. These are some of my favorite Christmas lights ever.

One night in mid-December the Vine Street Christmas Victorian Showcase event is held one street over from City Park on Vine Street. The street is closed and people can stroll along admiring the wonderful Victorian houses lit up, have hot chocolate, and greet Santa (long lines). This stroll covers 13 blocks (8th Street to 21st Street). The best area is at 12th Street, which is conveniently near City Park. Vine Street is probably wonderful to stroll anytime in December and the rest of the year too!
After, your child can play on the excellent playground at Downtown City Park!
Other places with excellent lights, outside of Paso Robles are, in order going south:
-Check out 1639 Christina Court, where you will find a block of houses with a light tunnel and decorations. It is a six minute drive east.
-212 5th Street, Templeton (not sure if this is the exact address but it's close to the Templeton Fire Department), where you will find a beautifully decorated house, 9 minutes drive south of Paso Robles City Park.
-5560 El Pomar Drive, Templeton, where you will find 300 Christmas inflatables! This is 11 minutes inland from the Templeton Fire Department house.
-2720 Ferrocarril Road, Atascadero, where the family dresses up on Fridays 6-8pm until Dec 20, and serves hot chocolate.
-While in Atascadero, check out the Christmas lights at the sunken gardens at City Hall. This is a popular spot.
-Next check out the Christmas tunnel, Santa house, and carousel at the mission plaza outside Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, 18 mins south.
-Then head over to the four holes of mini golf at the Christmas lights at a private house on the corner of Madonna Rd and Pereira Drive in San Luis Obispo. On Pinecove Drive, three streets over, half the houses are decorated.
-Pismo Beach Pier has wonderful lights too, that reflect on the water, with many decorations in the big plaza at the base of the pier, such as a glistening sleigh you can sit in, and surfboards from a Christmas surfboard decorating contest!
-Toward the coast from Paso Robles is a more expensive option, Cambria Pines Lodge Christmas Lights. I found the lower-quality LED lights to be a bit too gaudy and not romantic like the Downtown City Park lights.
-Morro Bay also has a cute Santa house by the giant chess board along Embarcadero. It's magical there.
-In Los Osos, on the corner of San Luis Ave and 13th Street is a house with a musical lights show.
