From the Tipton Entrance, you can walk the upper forest of Fiscalini Ranch, high above the ocean, looking down at the wooden boardwalk way below. The forest is interesting, with many fallen trees. Kids love a chair their size that has been carved into one of the tree stumps. You can take a trail down to the wooden boardwalk from this entrance but it doesn't look very well marked and we stayed at the top. Once the forest clears you see gorgeous views of the ocean, the neighborhoods on both sides, and people walking the boardwalk! We also saw two deer right by us! The awesome thing about this forest area is that it is often sunny despite thick fog at the oceanfront.
The Forest Loop Trail, which you are on, goes for one mile. You can also cut across the middle of it on the Ridge Trail.
A similar entrance is at 2697 Trenton Street, called Trenton Entrance on google maps.
After, visit the two towns nearby. Cambria has a lovely but expensive restaurant with a garden called Robin's, and some interesting things to check out like the fresnel lens from the nearby light station. Harmony, my favorite, has a wonderful glassworks store, ice cream truck, food truck with Moroccan stew (limited days), and Irish-style chapel.
The Tipton Entrance is at the dead end of Tipton Street. 2698 Tipton Street is the address. You can park along the road.
