Bradenton Historic Street Pier is an older-style pier. It has lovely views of the coastline along the intracoastal, with clusters of palms and waterfront houses with rooftop balconies. The pier itself is a little cramped when you first enter but the rust-red building is cute, and there is a white clocktower surrounded by tall, thin palms. Once on the pier you can enjoy the strong breeze off the intracoastal waterway. There are little gazebos that provide shade.
Bridge Street runs from the pier. It is an older, touristy street with tacky purple and pink buildings. It has the classic touristy feel, with a mini golf place, and a fudge place.
On the other end of Bridge Street is Cortez Beach with its nice strand of ironwood trees, and two jetties.
I prefer the north end of Anna Maria Island. It has cuter, newer houses, and the main street, Pine Ave, is sweet. It has a modern pier called Anna Maria City Pier.
Bradenton Historic Street Pier is located at the east end of Bridge Street on Anna Maria Island. There is parking along the road around the area and there are about 16 parking spots at the base of the pier. Parking is free.
