Anna Maria City Pier is a beautiful, modern pier on the intracoastal (east) side of the island. It is lit at night with tiny lights along its edge, and there is light that shines on the little waves of the intracoastal. Talented live music adds to the gorgeous mood. At night you can see the blue lights of the Skyway Bridge. There is a strong breeze keeping the mosquitoes away. It is bliss! I felt like I was in Hawaii while sitting on the very end of this pier, where there is a row of benches.
Grab an ice cream at Two Scoops, across the street from the pier, to enjoy while you stroll the pier. It is located in a cute plaza.
There is a restaurant with outdoor seating, across the street from the water, called The Waterfront Restaurant.
The pier is at the end of Pine Ave, which has cafes and shops, and a cute atmosphere with fine white sand on the sidewalks. Walk to the other end of Pine Ave to enjoy the beach with sand as white as snow and amazing sunsets.
Anna Maria City Pier is a modern pier with an expansive feel, whereas Bradenton Historic Street Pier is more of an old-style cramped pier, on Bridge Street where you'll find taffy, fudge, mini-golf, and buildings painted in tacky shades of pink and purple.
Thirty minutes away by car, go for an early morning walk at beautiful Robinson Preserve. Or check out the amazing climbing net playground three minutes south of there called The Nest at Robinson Preserve.
Anna Maria City Pier is located at the far east end of Pine Ave. The address is 100 N Bay Blvd, Anna Maria, FL 34216. There is free parking.
Two Scoops Ice Cream, 101 N Bay Blvd, Anna Maria, FL 34216.
