Breach Inlet is a very pretty spot, near Charleston, with more of a sense of place than Sullivan's Island Beach which is just an open expanse of sand. It is too hazardous to swim at Breach Inlet, so you have to just enjoy the views, which are lovely! Park at Thompson Park to see the sweet curve of beach and the cute houses across the water. As you walk to the sand you pass wildflowers. In the park, there are some interesting, colorful plaques detailing the history of the area.
After, have an ice cream at Ben and Jerry's at the main strip of Isle of Palms Beach, or eat a meal enjoying amazing views at the three-level Saltwater Cowboys Restaurant.
On your way back to Charleston town, stop below the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge at Mt. Pleasant Pier.
Thompson Park is located at 3217 Middle St, Sullivan's Island, SC 29482. There is a small parking lot.
