Papa'aloa Country Store and Cafe is a wonderful place on the Hamakua Coast where you will feel the friendliness of the people who live in this tropical paradise! There is a real sense of community here and everyone is smiling. In the cafe, which is to the right of the post office, breezy windows look out on the ocean and gorgeous tropical vegetation. Order the fish and chips ($14), often made with fresh ono- yum! If you can come when there is live music, which is Thurs-Sat at 5:30-7:30pm, you are in for a treat, as there are excellent musicians here! Check out Adam Crowe if you get a chance, and also Steve Fundy. The store, to the left of the post office, also has fresh-cooked food which you can buy at the counter and then eat on tables in the front or outside on the front patio. The store has many good supplies, including delicious fresh-baked banana bread! If you need a picnic for an afternoon at Lapahoehoe Beach Park, you can buy it here!
