Polo Beach has some shade in the morning, which is rare in South Maui! Here, a highrise provides a huge block of shade on a sand embankment. There is also shade under a tree. This beach has blue umbrellas and a backdrop of the Fairmont Kea Lani's unique white buildings. The swimming can be a little more choppy than at other beaches, but lovely nonetheless. Also, the ocean isn't as clear in this area as it is in Kaanapali. There are restrooms at this beach.

Stroll the grounds of the hotel, terrace, and lobby. There is a lily pond with a pedestrian bridge, gardens with white elephant sculptures and a two-pool fountain with a white pagoda, a terrace balcony with horse statue, and a grand lobby like the hotels in Waikiki. In the hotel, Ama Bar and Grill, an expensive cafe, offers a balcony over the sea, and serves flatbread, sushi, spring rolls, hamburgers, salads.
This beach is the southernmost spot on the Wailea Beach Path, which you have to walk! Stroll very early in the morning or in the early evening, when the sun is not as hot. There are stunning views of islands and coastline, sparking blue sea, boats, snorkelers, and little hidden coves.
The next beach north of here is Wailea Beach, where people gather to watch the sunset on the little grass mound by the beach parking lot.
Polo Beach has a public beach parking lot off Kaukahi Street.
If you want a beach without a resort backing it, for a more natural setting, go to Palauea Beach, one beach south of Polo Beach. It has medium sized waves that are fun to jump over!
After your swim, have an acai bowl in the lower level of The Shops at Wailea, at Island Vintage Coffee. The haupia cream acai bowl is the best!
An excellent aquarium 24 minutes north is Maui Ocean Center, a good place to go in the middle of the day when you've had enough sun.
