Palauea Beach, or White Rock Beach, is enchanting. There is no resort backing it, just nature, which makes it more pleasing. The swim here is fun, as there are medium sized waves to jump over or dive under!

You park along the road in front of expensive houses and then walk a dirt beach access path to the sand. The landscaping in front of the houses is gorgeous, with palms and bright purple bougainvillea.
We saw a wedding take place at this beach, and also watched tourists from India swim for the first time in their lives. It was so nice!
One beach north of here is Polo Beach, which has a choppier swim, and is backed by the Fairmont Kea Lani Hotel. North of there is Wailea Beach, a lovely place to swim at sunset. Next is Ulua Beach, then Mokapu Beach.
You can walk from Polo Beach to Mokapu Beach, for 1.5 miles, with stunning views, on the Wailea Beach Path. Don't miss it! Walk in the early morning because the sun will already be beating down.
After swimming, you always get hungry! Have the most delicious treat ever, a haupia cream acai bowl at Island Vintage Coffee at the lower level of The Shops at Wailea Outdoor Mall. Or eat dinner at youthful Kohala Brewery at Wailea Village Shopping Center.
While in Maui, make sure you eat at Paia Fish Market South Side, at Kihei Kalama Village. It is a 13 minute drive north.
