From the Monterey Bay Aquarium to Lovers Point Park, you can take an inspiring 1.1 mile walk above the ocean in the town of Pacific Grove! Just follow the paved bike path west from the aquarium. You will come to a nature preserve which is a pretty cove where seals and their babies relax on the sand. It is so wonderful to watch them! You have to peak through the chainlink fence but it's still great. Keep walking and you pass the prettiest vistas of ocean, rock formations, seals and birds, coastal flowers, and pastel-colored Victorian houses.
At the end you come to Lovers Point Park, where there are two lovely coves of finest sand and perfect aquamarine water. Here, babies can crawl in the sand and kids can splash in the cold, clear water. It's paradise! On windy days, this beach is calm and warmer than the rest of Monterey.
You can rent bikes or kayaks, and there is a snack bar with paninis and coffee and pretty-colored umbrellas overlooking the sea. There is also a stage over the ocean where groups sometimes perform. There's a toddler swimming pool by the restrooms (this whole area is undergoing repairs, Nov 2025).
At the top of the cliff is a large grassy lawn full of happy people admiring the cool rock formations overlooking the sea. Here is a cute sculpture of a sailor boy.
You can keep walking to the west even further, for 1.2 miles, on a hard-packed dirt clifftop path in Perkins Park if you'd like! The views are absolutely stunning around every corner, of rocks formations, the aquamarine water, and the coastline. Come on a sunny day! Then you will come to John Denver Beach, a delightful strip of sand with little colorful stones and awesome rock formations to climb (a little risky). Another 1.7 miles of walking on a path past rugged rocky coastline and you come to Asilomar State Beach.
A cute bakery that has indoor seating looking out big windows onto the main street, Lighthouse Ave, is The Perfect Crumb Bakery (closed Tues). It is a very steep 8 minute walk inland from Ocean View Blvd, or a 3 minute drive away.
You will find the bike path that leads to Lovers Point Park just west of the aquarium. If you've already paid for parking at the aquarium, start here.
For free parking, use the parking lot at Lovers Point Park, near 101 Forest Ave, Pacific Grove.

Nice little beach- protected, warm, and sunny even in the middle of winter.
