In the Lake Cherokee Historic District there are gorgeous 1930s homes on lakes surrounded by lush tropical trees. It is inspiring to take a stroll along these streets, particularly Fernwood St, Delaney Ave, Copeland Dr, and Agnes St. When you round the corner from Euclid Ave onto Agnes St, you see Lake Cherokee glistening a pale green before you and your heart skips with delight! Fernwood St and Copeland Dr, which connects on either end of Fernwood St, have wonderful trees and tropical plants, and houses looking out on Lake Copeland. There is a park with tennis courts and a small playground called Delaney Park, along Delaney Ave.
If you walk around the entire shore of Lake Cherokee (it's very beautiful here!), and then across Cherokee Park, you can walk around Lake Davis.
If you walk north up Delaney Ave, you will pass Lake Lucerne and its bustle of cars, and come to the main part of downtown Orlando.
Afterwards, drive south on Orange Ave and check out the modern, chic development anchored by Target called Sodo. The Smoothie Room has juicer juices and techno music.
Eleven minutes drive south, check out Cypress Grove Park, a gorgeous place with winding paths, a lake with a gazebo, a 1920s mansion, a playground, and tall unusual cypress trees strung with Spanish moss.
Seven minutes north, check out Lake Eola, a glorious lake with animals galore, sculptures, and a city atmosphere with tall glass buildings.
The Lake Cherokee Historic District centres around Delaney Ave, with pretty side streets like Fernwood St and Agnes St. Type into your GPS: 308 Agnes St to find this area.
For a snack afterwards, check out the restaurants at the development called Sodo, such as :
Smoothie Room, 25 W. Crystal Lake, Orlando FL 32806.
Flippers Pizzeria, 80 W. Grant St, Orlando FL 32806.
