Marriott's Grande Vista, near SeaWorld
Marriott's Grande Vista is a wonderful place to meet with family! It has four pools, and our favorite is the one with a splash pad and water cannons, called Plaza Del Sol Pool. This pool is surrounded by a fort with towers. You can have a blast shooting your family members with water cannons that are hidden in the fort towers!! You can even shoot complete strangers, but maybe this is not advised! The splash pad has fountains that all come from above, which is more hygienic. The pools are magical at night, when lights reflect on the water. It's bliss to sit by the pool at night in the warm Orlando air and play cards or eat a pizza together (Flippers is a good pizza place nearby).
The other pool, Village Center Pool, has many palm trees, giving it a grand appearance. It has a square tower with water fountains! Many people lounge at this pool. A long, white pedestrian bridge leads from the Village Center Pool to the Plaza Del Sol Pool, and it is lit at night with arches of little lights over you- kids get inspired by this!
The hotel rooms have balconies, many with views of forest around. Orlando is amazing how it's a big city yet there is forest everywhere. The hotel rooms don't have an exciting resort feel like the pools, except if you face the pool I guess, but that would be quite noisy since the Village Center Pool has an overly-bright movie screen that is loud.
There is a lake with a pink lighthouse, and it looks pretty from the bridge. At the lighthouse is a white dock with kayaks and paddle boats. As you drive into the hotel, there are a zillion magnolia trees that are just gorgeous in May. They are so much nicer than oak trees with their large glossy leaves and white flowers!
This hotel is a timeshare hotel and they make you get your parking pass from the timeshare salesman but if you leave in a hurry without letting him strike up a conversation you'll be fine.
SeaWorld is a ten minute drive from this hotel, which is convenient. If it's summertime, make sure you go to the Electric Ocean fireworks at SeaWorld. It's amazing!
A good place to eat nearby is Flippers Pizzeria, which has a nice interior seating area. It is a five minute drive away.
Thirteen minutes drive away, check out Icon Park, which is a touristy, buzzing place with a giant wave swing called the StarFlyer, an air-conditioned ferris wheel, and some museums such as Sea Life Aquarium and Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum.
