Peck Lake Park in Hobe Sound is surprisingly pretty. Bike riders who follow the bike path along SE Gomez Ave stop here, and fishermen hang out under the gazebo enjoying some great catches. The path is short (700m) and shady. It takes you through mangrove forest and varied vegetation that delights! There is such a tropical look to the vegetation, with wildflowers, Dr. Suess palms, vines, and green green branches all around you. Once you arrive at the end you find a gigantic gazebo over the intracoastal. You can walk down a few steps onto the intracoastal beach to check out the goopy sand and shells amid the mangroves.
Extend your walk by walking north on SE Gomez Ave along the sidewalk to the dead end. You can then take a wide cement path for two miles through Seabranch Preserve State Park.
After, hang out on Hobe Sound Beach for a while, to make your outing longer. On weekends it's a really fun scene there with lots of families, and lifeguards to keep you safe. It is a ten minute drive south.
Peck Lake Park's address is SE Peck Lake Park, Hobe Sound FL. There is a huge parking lot with gazebos and picnic tables. You can also bike here along a great bike path that runs along SE Gomez Ave.
