Calumet Park, Bird Rock La Jolla

Calumet Park is an inspiring park on cliffs over the sea. There is a lovely lawn where people picnic and kids run happily. A dirt path follows the edge of the cliff, where ice plant shines in vibrant purple down the cliff. The best part is the sound of the huge pebbles being pulled by the waves on the beach below! There are views of Bird Rock, a rock that juts out of the ocean, and the beach houses on the cliffs. 

After, walk south to Pacific Beach Point, where you can see Pacific Beach Pier and walk down stairs to a beach of huge pebbles. Walk north to Bird Rock Vista Point, a really fun spot where you can watch the funny antics of the pelicans and birds. And further north to La Jolla Hermosa Park, a small lookout over a rocky cove. It's fun to check out the beach houses and these four lookouts, on a walk along Calumet Ave.
After, walk back from the ocean a few blocks and have a smoothie at Seaside Surf Cafe, where you can sit out on their expansive patio and watch people walk by. There are lots of cute cafes along La Jolla Blvd in Bird Rock.
