Pacific Beach Point is a lively spot in the Bird Rock neighborhood of La Jolla. It is called Bird Rock Waterfront on google maps, though this name doesn't really depict it well. Here, a path between houses leads to benches where you can sit in front of cactus plants and enjoy a sweeping view of Pacific Beach and its pretty pier. In the distance is the happy scene of beach goers. Directly below, accessed by stairs, is a beach of huge pebbles. The staircase is flanked with purple flowers in spring, and vibrant ice plant hangs from the cliffs. Walk down the stairs to check it out! It is almost impossible to walk on this beach, though athletic kids will delight in the balancing act.
After, walk north to Calumet Park with its ice plant on the cliff in spring and its amazing-sounding pebbles on the beach below. Further north, spend some time at Bird Rock Vista Point, a really fun spot where you can watch the funny antics of the pelicans and birds. And even further north, walk to La Jolla Hermosa Park, a small lookout over a rocky cove. It's fun to check out the beach houses and these four lookouts, on a walk along Calumet Ave.
After, walk back from the ocean a few blocks and have a smoothie at Seaside Surf Cafe, where you can sit out on their expansive patio and watch people walk by. There are lots of cute cafes along La Jolla Blvd in Bird Rock.
South of Pacific Beach Point is Tourmaline Surf Park where you can watch the surfers catch waves.
Pacific Beach Point is located at 399 Sea Ridge Dr, La Jolla. There is parking along the road.
