Garden in a sunny, sheltered spot, with cottage with turret under redwood trees, Buddhist gazebo, goats, and flowers galore! Seasonal pumpkins and Christmas market!
Walk the secret garden and up the hilly paths around the hotel, plus admire the ranunculus flowers at the Madonna Inn entrance door in springtime, then have a cookie or drink in the cafe or bar. A very romantic choice.

Emerson Park Community Garden is actually pretty nice to walk around to see flowers. After, take a walk past Victorian homes and their gardens, in the neighborhood.
If I'm longing for a tropical garden, there is none in SLO! But...I admire the fishtail palms and tropical trees at someone's garden on Peyton Court, and then check out the many flowers and palms in South Palisades Park.
There are classical sculptures and fountains around City Hall and tall, regal trees in the Sunken Garden, which is more a park than a garden, in Atascadero. Walk to Bramble Pies Company after.
Paso Robles doesn't have a garden but it does have Downtown City Park, with tall, gorgeous trees.
Heritage Square Park in Arroyo Grande Village is not a garden but does have impressive trees, a lush feel, and behind it, a creek with a swinging bridge and tropical vegetation. Cottages nearby have pretty gardens. Rori's Ice Cream is a good stop after.
Some nice trees such as mayten trees from the Andes foothills, but overall they chose too dry of an area for this botanical garden.
