Santa Barbara has some fantastic places to explore! Here are our favorites!
America isn't as train-friendly as Europe, in that usually you need a car to get to the fun places. But there are some places you can walk around straight from the train station! If you love train travel, these are the places to go! The Pacific Surfliner is the train that takes you from San Luis Obispo to San Diego. Featured here are spots at these stations: San Luis Obispo, Grover Beach, Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, Ventura, San Clemente Pier, Solana Beach, and Old Town San Diego. The only airport on a train stop is Burbank Airport, directly on Burbank Airport Train Station.
There are fantastic (often free) summer concerts all over San Luis Obispo County!
San Luis Obispo county is a hilly area with some steep morros (volcanic mountains). Here are some hikes you can do that have 10% grade or less!
Spend a weekend in Solvang, a Danish town surrounded by beautiful countryside. Walk around the charming (if not touristy) town and sit in the sun at a cafe. Take your kids to the amazing Sunnyfields Park with its medieval playground. Drive by the miniature horses at Quicksilver Ranch. Skateboard or take in nature at Hans Christian Andersen Park. For farms to visit, check out the Blueberry Farm (in April) and Ostrichland in Buellton.
