Highway 1 Road Trip, California Coast

A gorgeous trip along the coast of California. Highway 1 is confusing because sometimes it ends, replaced by the freeway, Highway 101. I once was asked directions by a man frustrated because he read an article that said he could take the scenic Highway 1 along the entire California coastline. He was in Santa Barbara and was asking me where Highway 1 was, and when I said there was only freeway through Santa Barbara he didn't believe me! Here are the parts of Highway 1 that I have visited for LotsaFunMaps, in order from south to north! The entire highway is a very long road trip but you could choose smaller stretches of it to conquer, depending on which photos below look most interesting to you! Where it becomes a freeway, Highway 101, I have noted that. Some areas of Highway 1 might have long stretches of traffic lights, such as in Orange County, while others are mostly open road, a more freeing fun experience. I have noted this too.
